High oleic soybean oil has been showcased during this year’s World Food Championships in Indianapolis.

For the second year in a row, the Indiana Soybean Checkoff has provided high oleic soybean oil for the competition.

Hendricks county farmer David Hardin says featuring the oil can help boost demand.

“Indiana produces a lot of high oleic soybean oil, which is a great product for cooking,” he says. “We see this as a great ingredient that these chefs can use for their consumers.”

Eric Deo, a chef from Singapore, says he’s experienced the benefits of the heart-healthy oil firsthand.

“It heats up pretty fast,” he says. “It maintains a very high temperature. It’s fast, it’s tasty, it’s clear, and it lasts longer. I’m very impressed with this oil.”

Chefs from Southeast Asia recently visited several Indiana farms to learn more about high oleic soybean production as a part of the Indiana Soybean Alliance’s involvement in the World Food Championships.
