A Fairfield man has been arrested after a domestic disturbance Saturday night that led to a felony assault charge involving a pregnant victim.
Fairfield Police officers were dispatched to the 300 block of East Pierce Avenue at approximately 8:24 p.m. on October 25th. Andrew Christopher Barron, 28, of Fairfield, was arrested and charged with Domestic Abuse Assault of a Pregnant Person Impeding Air or Blood Flow, a Class D felony.
As officers approached the residence, a woman ran from the apartment appearing visibly frightened and distressed.
According to court documents, the victim told officers she and Barron—her husband—were arguing downstairs when he punched a hole in the wall before grabbing her by the arm and forcing her upstairs. Once upstairs, Barron allegedly pulled her hair, restricted her breathing, and threw her phone at her. The victim told police that Barron is aware she is pregnant.
Barron was taken into custody and initially held at the Jefferson County Correctional Facility with no bond. Following his initial court appearance, his bond was set at $5,000 cash or surety, and a no-contact order has been requested in the case.
Police say the incident remains under investigation, and additional charges may be filed. No further details have been released.
A preliminary hearing is scheduled for November 5th.
