On October 6, 2025, the Albia Police Department was dispatched to the 300 block of B Ave W in response to a domestic dispute, which was no longer in progress upon their arrival.
Upon arrival, officers spoke with the victim, who stated that Davin Caster, 35, of Albia, had been drinking Busch Lights the night before and became very intoxicated. According to court documents, the victim and Caster had an argument in the living room over a conversation regarding addiction and football.
Court documents state that Caster pushed the victim with both hands, causing her to fall to the floor. The victim further reported that Caster jumped on top of her and repeatedly punched her in the mouth, resulting in a broken tooth and bleeding. Officers observed swelling on the victim’s lower lip, as well as a gash on her lower lip.
The victim also stated that Caster had taken her cell phone and did not allow her to contact anyone. To de-escalate the situation, the victim went upstairs to get away from Caster. Court documents indicate that she remained upstairs until she saw Caster leave in her vehicle. The victim then went downstairs to locate her cell phone, which was found under the couch, and she called the law center.
While officers were questioning the victim, Caster drove by the residence. Officers conducted a traffic stop on Caster, who has two prior convictions for domestic abuse dated November 1, 2024, and May 16, 2025, making this incident his third offense. Caster was arrested and transported to the Monroe County Jail, where he remains in custody.
Caster is facing charges of Domestic Abuse Assault – 3rd or Subsequent Offense (Class D Felony) and Obstruction of Emergency Communications (Simple Misdemeanor). A no-contact order is in place, and no cash or surety bond has been set. Court documents also state that Caster and the victim are married and reside at the 300 block of B Ave W.
