Ottumwa Community Schools will open for the 2025–2026 school year on Monday, August 25, 2025. With construction still underway in certain areas, families should be aware of special traffic routes at Liberty Intermediate School and Wilson Elementary School.

Liberty Intermediate School:
Drivers should use Milner Street, Finley Avenue, Shaul Avenue, and Mary Street west of Bennink Lane for drop-off and pick-up. To reduce congestion, motorists are asked to avoid Williams Street between Shaul Avenue and Milner Street during peak school hours unless they are accessing Pickwick Early Childhood Center or live in the area. Drivers are also encouraged to steer clear of the Fahrney/Douma area near the Milner and Mary intersection unless necessary.

Wilson Elementary School:
Families transporting students will follow a set one-way route. Vehicles will travel east on Iowa Avenue, turn left on Cooper Avenue, and continue south to Plum Street. From there, drivers should turn right, then left onto Ash Street to head south. Please note: Ash Street between Plum Street and East Second Street will be one-way, southbound only.

The City of Ottumwa and Ottumwa Community Schools appreciate the community’s cooperation and patience as classes get underway.
