According to the 1885 Sanborn Maps, the house was originally identified as a private residence.

The building directly to the south, located on the corner of West Second Street and Washington, was a boarding house with the address 203 W. Second.

This boarding house was later repurposed as a medical and surgical institute, but by 1902 it had become the Washington Hotel, with the house serving as an annex to the hotel.

Over time, the house was used as apartments and office space. It was eventually demolished in the 1970s and replaced by an insurance agency.
