Steven Dwayne Rhodes, 58, of Ottumwa, died at 9:27 a.m. June 25, 2025 at Ottumwa Regional Health Center.
He was born December 20, 1966 in Rochelle, IL to Billy and Wilma Ackley Rhodes. He married Barbara Jean Ferrell and they later divorced. He married Mary A. Millard January 9, 2004.
Growing up in Ottumwa, Steve graduated from Ottumwa High School in 1986. He worked for Turner Concrete for over 20 years and currently for Glosser Concrete.
Steve played on a pool league for several years. He enjoyed fishing, spending time on the river and especially loved spending time with his grandkids.
Surviving is his wife, Mary; his children, Michael (Brittney) Rhodes of Ottumwa, Ashley (Jonathan) Fuentes of Des Moines and Cody Rhodes of Ottumwa; 4 step-children, Teresa (Bob) Elmore and Freddie Hill both of Ottumwa. Shalynn (Chris) Goode of Cedar Rapids and Jimmy (Lisa) Hill of Ottumwa; 18 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; his mother, Wilma Rhodes; and his brother, Billy (Lynn) Rhodes Jr.
He was preceded in death by his father, Billy Rhodes Sr.
Visitation will open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday, June 29th at Reece Funeral Home with the family present to greet friends from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday. Cremation will take place after the visitation.
A further time to celebrate his life will be held at a later date.
