As we gear up for the 4th of July, the Wapello County Republican Party invites you to the 22nd Annual Declaration of Independence Celebration—a joyous family event that promises to bring our community together in honor of our nation’s birth!
Event Details:
- Date: Monday, June 30 2025
- Time: Starts at 5:45 PM
- Location: Sycamore Park Shelter by the Beach.
Kick off the evening with delicious hot dogs and fun activities for the kids! At 6:15 PM, our program will begin, featuring uplifting patriotic vocal music, followed by the reading and signing of the Declaration of Independence. This year, we are excited to have Senator Ken Rozenboom as our special guest speaker.
In a unique and inspiring moment, 13 community members will represent the original British North American colonies as they read the Declaration, commemorating its adoption on July 4, 1776. This document not only marked a pivotal point in history but also transformed the colonists’ struggle into a bold declaration of freedom.
Attendees will have the chance to view a replica of Thomas Jefferson’s handwritten draft and a copy of the Declaration of Independence itself. Plus, don’t miss our display featuring all 27 official U.S. flags! Everyone will receive a copy of the Declaration to take home.
This celebration is a great opportunity to reconnect with a piece of our nation’s history that many may not have heard since their school days. We welcome everyone to join us for an evening of learning, music, and community spirit. A free will offering will be accepted to support this event.
