Larry Leroy Knotts, Jr., 61, of Burlington, was sentenced yesterday to 17 years in federal prison for distributing methamphetamine. Court documents reveal that Knotts sold approximately 125 grams of meth to a confidential source during controlled purchases in November and December 2023.
At the time of the transactions, Knotts was already on federal supervised release following a previous conviction in the Central District of Illinois for conspiracy to manufacture methamphetamine.
Following his prison sentence, Knotts will serve an additional five years of supervised release. There is no possibility of parole in the federal system.
The case was investigated by the Southeast Iowa Narcotics Task Force (SEINT) and the Burlington Police Department. The announcement was made by U.S. Attorney Richard D. Westphal of the Southern District of Iowa.
