Residents of Ottumwa were thrilled this morning when a official press release announced that Texas Roadhouse is set to open its first ever location in the city. Line – dancing servers, The popular steakhouse chain, known for it’s legendary hand – cut steaks, fresh baked bread, and line-dancing servers, has reportedly selected a prime location near the heart of Ottumwa.

But here’s the catch- this Texas Roadhouse won’t be your ordinary restaurant. In a bold new concept, the Ottumwa location will be drive- thru only! Thats right- diners will order their ribeyes and ribs from the comfort of their vehicles and receive their meals through an oversized pickup  window, complete with a mechanical bull ride for customers waiting in line.

“We want to do something special for Ottumwa”, said Texas Roadhouse spokesperson Buck T. Bones. This is the first- ever drive thru steakhouse in America, and we’re testing it right here.Your 20 – ounce bone – in ribeye will come with a side of mashed potatoes and a complimentary saddle to sit on while you wait.”

Local reactions have been a mix of excitement and skepticism. Some residents wonder how a drive- thru steakhouse will handle the restaurant’s famous unlimited peanuts and bread rolls. Others are just hoping it’s not an elaborate April Fool’s joke.

“Honestly if this is real, I’m eating there everyday,” said Ottumwa native Sara Jane Douglas. :But if this is a prank, I’m going to throw – a – bucket of peanuts mad.”

Texas Roadhouse has not yet confirmed an official opening date, but sources say if this concept is successful, a second location might open – featuring a horseback ride- thru lane for customers who prefer to order the cowboy way.

You’ve been Pranked! Happy April Fool’s Day from Ottumwa Radio
