A head-on collision Thursday afternoon in Appanoose County claimed the life of a Milo man and left three others injured, according to the Appanoose State Highway Patrol.
The crash occurred at approximately 4:07 p.m. on April 17 in the 26900 block of Highway T30. Investigators said a westbound 2003 Buick LeSabre, driven by 59-year-old Wesley Laverne Devore of Milo, crossed the centerline and collided head-on with an eastbound 2002 Chevrolet Express van driven by 55-year-old Jonathan Wayne Dorman of Exline.
Devore, who was wearing a seat belt, was pronounced dead at the scene. His body was transported to the medical examiner’s office by Thomas Funeral Home.
Two passengers in Devore’s vehicle, 78-year-old Wortha May Devore and 81-year-old Robert Wesley Devore, both of Promise City, sustained serious injuries. Neither passenger was wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash. Wortha Devore was airlifted by Air Evac to Mercy One Des Moines Medical Center, while Robert Devore was transported by ambulance to MercyOne Centerville.
Dorman, who was wearing a seat belt, suffered injuries and was transported by personal vehicle to MercyOne Centerville for treatment.
Both vehicles sustained heavy damage and were towed from the scene by Bratz Shell Towing. Multiple local agencies assisted at the scene as the investigation continues.
