The new state president for Iowa FFA says member interaction is one of her biggest goals in the year ahead.

Chloe Zittergruen was elected state president at the 97th Iowa FFA State Convention held this month in Ames.

“Say I go into a classroom and do a chapter visit,” she said, “ I see those 10 students in that first period animal science class for 30 minutes or 45 minutes, and that could be the only interaction I have with them this year. I’m wanting to really get that meaningful one-on-one interactions with members and being intentional about those interactions.”

Zittergruen grew up in Keswick and attended Tri-County Community High School. She’s currently a student at Iowa State University majoring in agricultural communications and horticulture.

She tells Brownfield she’s hopeful more students will take part in FFA and its programs.

“My thing is, immerse yourself fully and don’t be scared to say yes,” Zittergruen said. “Get yourself in those uncomfortable situations because it’s going to grow you as a person.”

Zittergruen enters the role as state president after serving the 2024-25 school year as state secretary.
