Bluegrass fans are in for a treat this weekend as two regional favorites take the stage at the historic King Opera House in Albia. The concert, set for Sunday, April 6 at 2 p.m., will feature performances by The Salt River Band from the Kirksville, Missouri area and Albia’s own Fine Line Bluegrass.

Doors will open at 1 p.m., and admission is by freewill donation. Proceeds from the event will go toward the ongoing restoration of the 1903 King Opera House, a treasured local landmark undergoing revitalization.

The Salt River Band gained a following among local audiences after their performance at last fall’s Monroe County Bluegrass Festival, held at the county fairgrounds. Their energetic set caught the attention of Fine Line Bluegrass bandleader Darin Manson, who extended the invitation for them to join the spring concert at the opera house.

“This is a great opportunity to bring together two talented groups and support the restoration of one of Albia’s historic gems,” Manson said.

The event promises an afternoon of lively music and community spirit, all in support of preserving a piece of Albia’s cultural heritage.
