The first Sigourney City Council meeting of March was held Wednesday night.
After the consent agenda was approved, Executive Director Gary Iosbaker gave a brief Keokuk County Economic Development (KCED) report.
There will be an all members meeting on March 12th. The invitations have been sent out.
In cooperation with Sigourney High School, Iosbaker says KCED had the industrial park sign refurbished. The sign is currently in the KCED office. It will be mounted in its rightful place once the weather turns favorable.
The council turned its attention to a handful of street projects. A project to complete patchwork on the western portion of Ringgold Street was unanimously approved. The work would encompass 4,466 square feet of pavement patching, removal, and replacement. The cost of the project is estimated to be $64,320.
There was a section of Ringgold Street that did not meet the criteria for the above project. The separate 2,234-square-foot project will cost $30,150. The council unanimously approved.
The final approved project involved the city putting adequate signage for a handicapped parking spot in front of the Manor House located on South Stuart Street. The city would only be responsible for the sign. Manor House would have to handle the logistics of making a handicapped parking spot.
The next Sigourney City Council meeting will be held on March 19.
