Historic Hills Scenic Byway, Iowa — Iowa PBS’s series Road Trip Iowa takes you on an adventure across Iowa’s scenic byways, showcasing the historic sites, unique attractions and natural beauty when season two premieres on Wednesday, April 9.

The 10 new episodes will feature businesses, towns, and landscapes along the byways of Iowa. The Historic Hills Scenic Byway episode airs on Wednesday, May 14th at 6:30 p.m. Viewers will venture to Honey Creek Resort State Park, Milton Creamery, Lake Wapello State Park, Iron and Lace in Bentonsport, and other places that typify the beauty of the byway.

“Iowa PBS encourages visitors to enjoy the Historic Hills Scenic Byway, but the episode only scratches the surface of the experiences that can be found here,” said Christina Hedström, Historic Hills Scenic Byway Coordinator. “The 105-mile-long byway gives visitors a chance to unwind, experience beautiful downtowns, enjoy nature, and discover Iowa’s varied and fascinating history. We deeply appreciate the time Iowa PBS took to highlight all of Iowa’s Byways!”

Road Trip Iowa is a fun way to learn about the state of Iowa. Each week, we’re off to a different location—to learn history, visit a state park, or drop in on a local business,” said Iowa PBS Senior Producer and Director Tyler Brinegar. “When we put these stories together, you really get a feel for the area’s culture and a sense of how past generations have influenced the way we live now. We hope viewers feel that, too, and get the itch to go explore for themselves.”

Beginning on April 9th, episodes premiere on Wednesdays at 6:30 p.m. and repeat on Saturdays at 9 a.m. The series is also available to stream on iowapbs.org and on the PBS app.

In celebration of the Historic Hills Scenic Byway’s episode free community screenings will be held at 6:00 on May 14 at Hotel Manning in Keosauqua and American Gothic House Center in Eldon. These special events will bring people together to celebrate and enjoy the unique charm of the Historic Hills.

Funding for Road Trip Iowa is provided by the Gilchrist Foundation, Kwik Star and Musco Lighting.

In addition to their statewide broadcasts, Iowa PBS, WORLD and Create are available to livestream on iowapbs.org/livepbs.org/livestream, and the PBS app. Iowa PBS KIDS is available to livestream on iowapbs.org/live or the PBS KIDS app. Iowa PBS programs are also available on most popular platforms.
