The Davis County and Moulton-Udell School Districts have named their new shared superintendent.

Megan Christiansen, currently the superintendent of Teton School District in Idaho, will lead the Davis County and Moulton-Udell School Districts starting July 1. Her duties include supervising the education, safety, and care of students while also evaluating administrators and department directors. Christiansen also led an audit the state of the district’s schools and developed and implemented a priority plan based on the areas of greatest needs of students.

Earlier in her career, Christiansen was an instructional coach and special education teacher in the Council Bluffs Community School District in Iowa. She also served as special education teacher and behavioral instructor in the Logan-Magnolia Community School District in Iowa.

In a statement, Christiansen says she’s happy to be coming back to Iowa.

“I have interviewed for several teaching and leadership positions in my education career, and this specific day of interviewing with Davis County and Moulton-Udell was very different for me. There was an instant connection and natural feeling with the people and the schools,” Christiansen said. “I am so excited and honored to have the opportunity to support our students, parents, and staff in elevating educational and experiential opportunities for our students and communities to even higher levels! My family and I are coming home!”

Christiansen earned a master’s degree in special education from the University of Nebraska Omaha, a master’s degree in PK-12 Education Leadership-Superintendent. She is currently enrolled in the Doctor of Education Program at Northwest Nazarene University. Christiansen has more than 25 years of experience in K-12 leadership and instruction.

Christiansen will officially begin as the Davis County and Moulton-Udell superintendent on July 1. She will replace Dan Maeder who announced his resignation last year.
