Richard Lee Baker, 71, of Ollie, died at 4:37 p.m. January 22, 2025 at Serenity Hospice House in Oskaloosa.
He was born June 19, 1953 in Ottumwa to John H. and Louise Bogle Baker.
A 1971 graduate of Cardinal High School, Rick served in the US Army Airborne Division from 1971 to 1975 serving in Germany. He drove a semi-truck for various companies including RL Schott, American and Bowling.
Rick enjoyed hunting for mushrooms, NASCAR and was a Jeff Gordon fan. Rick had a love of all cars.
Surviving are his children, Alena Baker of Madison, MO, Sadie Evenson of Waukee and Seth Baker of Adel; 5 grandchildren, Jessica Price, Drew Sides, Maddy McClure, Taylor Perry and Devin Baker; 3 great-grandchildren, Kinslee, Kimberlyn and Knox; siblings, Robert (Roberta) Baker of Grand Junction, CO, Debra Baker Shaull of Sigourney and Randal (Clella) Baker of Richland.
He was preceded in death by his parents; grandson, Jordan Johnson; 2 brothers, Michael Baker and John H. Baker Jr.; grandparents, Dr. RL and Lena Jeffrery Ward; niece, Michelle McCall; and brother-in-law, Kevin Shaull.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Saturday, January 25th at Reece Funeral Home with Pastor Danny Cary officiating. Military honors will be conducted by Walter B. Schafer Post #775 Veterans of Foreign Wars and O.B. Nelson Post #3 American Legion. The family will be present to greet friends one hour prior to the service. Cremation will follow the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Serenity Hospice House in Oskaloosa.
