Merle Allen Shively, 70, of Bloomfield, Iowa passed away on January 3, 2025 at his home. He was born on June 16, 1954 in Bloomfield, Iowa to Franklin A. and Vera Evelyn Guinn Shively. He graduated from Davis County High School in 1973 and attended the auto body program at Indian Hills. Merle worked as a machinist for Rubbermaid in Centerville, Iowa for many years. He enjoyed spending time with his family and cherished family togethers and Sunday meals.
He is survived by a brother, Stan (Becky) Shively of Bloomfield; three nephews, Stewart (Brandi) Shively, Steve (Meghan) Shively, Scott (Cassie Plowman) Shively all of Bloomfield; several great nieces and nephews; and a great-great-nephew.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Merle’s wish was to be cremated. Burial will be at the IOOF Cemetery in Bloomfield at a later date. A memorial has been established to his family and may be mailed to the funeral home at: Merle Shivley Memorial, 304 W. Jefferson St., Bloomfield, Iowa 52537.
