An eastern Iowa farmer is using ClearFlame technology to haul grain to his local ethanol plant.

Lance Lillibridge grows corn and soybeans in Benton County and says he’s driving an International semi-truck with a Cummins engine that’s been converted to run on E98.

“Which is 98 percent ethanol and 2 percent gasoline. It’s what comes out of our ethanol plants, they call it denatured ethanol.”

He tells Brownfield ClearFlame is performing surprisingly well.

“I wasn’t really sure what to expect, going from diesel to ethanol I thought maybe we would lack some power. But I can absolutely guarantee that we are not lacking any power in this truck.”

Lillibridge says corn farmers should embrace ClearFlame technology.

“And the reason I say that is because I can talk to my fuel supplier and have E98 delivered to my farm and put it in one of my tanks so it’s available for me when I need it.”

The National Corn Growers Association has invested in ClearFlame for several years in hopes it will bring ethanol to the heavy-duty transportation industry.
