Daniel M. Cloke, 76, of Eldon, died at 7:05 p.m. January 1, 2025 at Bloomfield Care Center.
He was born July 19, 1948 in Jefferson County, IA, the oldest of 6 children, to Kenneth and Anna Marie Grothe Cloke. He married Willadean Weeks on April 15, 1968 and she preceded him in death on April 1, 2023.
A 1967 graduate of Cardinal High School, he was drafted to the U.S. Army, serving 8 months in Vietnam. Daniel earned 2 Purple Hearts and a Bronze Star.
He worked for 30 years at John Deere Ottumwa Works.
Daniel was a member of O.B. Nelson Post #3 American Legion. He enjoyed fishing, camping, gold mining, turkey hunting and loved being outdoors.
Surviving are his children, Hiedi Cloke and Micheal (Bitsy) Cloke, both of Eldon; 7 grandchildren, Haley (Austin) McCarty, Kade Chance, Tristin Cloke, Allisyn Cloke, Blake Christy, Ashley Christy and Emily Cloke; 8 great-grandchildren; siblings, Norman Cloke of Alabama, Kay Ford of Stockport, Terry (Terri) Cloke of Waukee and Robin (Tim) Gaskell of Keosauqua.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Theresia Comer.
His body has been cremated.
The family will be present to greet friends from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday, January 7th at Reece Funeral Home.
Memorial services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, January 8th at Reece Funeral Home. Military honors will be conducted by Walter B. Schafer Post #775 Veterans of Foreign Wars and O.B. Nelson Post #3 American Legion.
