Ivan L. “Pete” Peters, 85, of rural Batavia, died at 12:40 p.m. December 9, 2024 at Good Samaritan Society-Ottumwa.
He was born April 23, 1939 in Holland, IA to John J. and Elizabeth Hillygus Peters. He married Marian Margaret “Becky” Kesselring on December 17, 1960.
A graduate of Dike High School, Pete had worked at John Deere Waterloo Works and Ottumwa Works, along with various other jobs.
Pete was a member of Bladensburg Christian Church. He played and pitched men’s fast pitch softball and was a member of a bowling league. Pete had been a member of Batavia Jaycees and Cardinal School Board. He had coached his daughter’s softball and loved to play cards.
Surviving is his wife, Becky; their children, Kevin (Shelley) Peters of Ottumwa and Deb (Mark) LeVault of Edinburg, IL; 5 grandchildren, Justin Peters (Becca Hawley), Emilee (Miles) Gaston, Ellen Peters (fiancé Andrew Sabers), Garrett (Emily) LeVault and Audrey (Addison) Elliott; 6 great-grandchildren; and a brother, Ronald (Sharon) Peters of Tripoli.
He was preceded in death by his parents; 5 brothers, Herbert, Duane, Edwin, Don and LaVerne Peters; 5 sisters, Lois Muller, Marian Bundy, Lorraine Peters, Marlys Petersen and Janice Huebner.
Visitation will be open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday, December 12th at Reece Funeral Home. His family will be present to greet friends from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Friday, prior to the service.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, December 13th at Reece Funeral Home with his grandson, Garrett LeVault officiating. Burial will be in Batavia Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Bladensburg Christian Church or Hospice Serving Davis and Wapello Counties.
