A pedestrian was killed in Lee County after trying to cross a roadway, according to the Iowa State Patrol.
The accident report states at approximately 6:00 PM on November 15, a 2009 Toyota Tacoma was traveling westbound on Highway 2/Avenue O in Fort Madison. Officials say 70-year-old Nancy Kuhljuergen of Fort Madison attempted to cross the roadway without yielding to traffic and was struck by the truck. Kuhljuergen died from injuries sustained in the accident.
The Iowa State Patrol was assisted by the Fort Madison Police Department, Fort Madison Fire Department, and EMT.
