An Ottumwa man was allegedly in possession of drugs and handed them to the officer during a traffic stop.
38-year-old Justin Reeves was charged with possession of a controlled substance – 1st offense, unlawful possession of a prescription drug, failure to affix drug tax stamp, and intent to manufacture/deliver methamphetamine.
On October 6, court records say an officer conducted a traffic stop for obstruction of the driver’s view and for carrying an invalid license.
Authorities say Reeves reached into his front pant pocket and handed the officer a pill bottle with a torn label. The bottle contained 19 pills of Tramadol Hydrochloride and 11 pills of Buspirone Hydrochloride. Reeves was unable to provide a valid prescription.
During the traffic stop, Reeves handed the officer a plastic bag containing 10.8 grams of methamphetamine.
Reeves was transported to the Wapello County Jail. He has a $25,000 bond and he waived a preliminary hearing.
