Jaxxon Carver Cain, 8, of Ottumwa, passed away July 2, 2024.

He was born June 29, 2016 in Ottumwa.

Jaxxon had just completed 2nd grade at Douma Elementary. He was an extremely bright young boy who had the biggest heart and never knew a stranger. One might say that if you had met Jaxxon, you knew Jaxxon. He didn’t fear much of anything except maybe spiders. He was a go-getter; if he wanted it, he was going to get it no matter what. Jaxxon enjoyed video games, YouTube videos, music, swimming and bike riding. He brought so much joy into all of our lives. Jaxxon will forever remain in our hearts and minds and never be forgotten.

Jaxxon had come to build his own “family” over his lifetime, adding to the family he was born into. Surviving is his mother, Jazzmyn Cain of Ottumwa; his father, James (Natalee) Cain of Eddyville; his first and best friend, his sister, Temperence Lynn Cain of Eddyville; brother, Ezekiel Cain of Eddyville; grandparents, Roy Bennett Jr. of Ottumwa, Jon (Donna) Cain of Ottumwa and Pamela (Phillip) Singletary of Des Moines; aunts and uncles, Jacob (Vanessa) Bennett, Hanna (Christopher) Bennett, Alex (Katrina) Lobaugh; Sabrina Lobaugh, Calysta (Wyatt) Myers and Zach (Terry) Malcom; great grandparents, Alice Bennett of Ottumwa, Tibitha Burns of Tacoma, WA; Mary Ann and Vern Lobaugh of Ottumwa and Nancy and Daryl Barnett; along with many cousins, great aunts and great uncles. Others that were influential in his life include Alona Pollard, Darrin Hill, Joseph Gee, Dylan Baker and Timothy Moore.

He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Carrie Burns Bennett; great grandparents, Roy “Bob” Bennett Sr., Michael “Meka” Morrow, Sandra Archer and Mike Cain; an aunt, Shalynn Carlo Lobaugh; and “daddy Shaun” Rodney Shaun Dickerson.

Visitation will be open at 10 a.m. Sunday, July 7th at Reece Funeral Home with the family present to greet friends from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday.

A service to celebrate his life will be held at 4 p.m. Sunday, July 7th at Reece Funeral Home with Rev. Chet Coolbaugh officiating. Cremation will take place after the service.
