OPD: Ottumwa Man Attempts to Throw Away Methamphetamine After Arrest


An Ottumwa man faces charges after attempting to transport 83.2 grams of Methamphetamine, according to police.

On June 2, 32-year-old Tyler Ware was charged with a Class B felony of possession with intent to deliver +5 grams of methamphetamine and a Class D felony of failure to affix a Drug Tax Stamp.

According to the Ottumwa Police Department, Ware was a passenger of a vehicle that was subject of a probable cause search. Police say Ware had a digital scale that had traces of Methamphetamine on it. According to the criminal complaint, Ware admitted the substance on the scale was methamphetamine.

Ware was arrested. During his transport to the Wapello County Jail, authorities say he attempted to discard a plastic bag of 83.2 grams of methamphetamine in the patrol vehicle.

Ware is currently in the Wapello County Jail. He is being held without bond pending a hearing with a magistrate judge.
