Lawrence R. Shilling, 80, of Ottumwa, died at 11:23 a.m. June 9, 2024 at Good Samaritan Society-Ottumwa.
He was born July 4, 1943 in Ottumwa to Henry and A. Muriel Landgrebe Shilling. He married Betty Colleen Woten November 10, 1961. She preceded him in death August 25, 2018.
A graduate of Ottumwa High School, Lawrence had worked at John Morrell & Co. for 24 years, retiring in 1987.
Lawrence was a member of Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie #114 in Ottumwa and I.O.O.F. Magnolia Lodge #24 in Agency and served as State Secretary for 15 years.
He enjoyed traveling, especially for I.O.O.F. meetings all over the U.S. as a representative for Iowa.
Surviving are two sons, Lawrence Alan (Stacy) Shilling of Alhambra, IL and Mike (Darla) Shilling of Ottumwa; five grandchildren, Danielle (Dustin) Alwood, Jared Alan Shilling, Merissa Beck, Kevan Tyler Shilling, and Chelsie (Zack) Fears; four great grandchildren; two siblings, Alan (Marcella) Shilling of Sioux City and Barbara Suechting of Winters, CA.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Joyce Larson and Erma Miller.
His body has been cremated.
Graveside services and inurnment will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, June 14th, at Shaul Cemetery.
