Wapello County Republicans Offer Flag Service


The Wapello County Republicans are offering to respectfully dispose of American flags that are no longer fit to fly.

According to the Wapello County Republicans, this is the 22nd year that The Wapello County Republicans are providing this service to the community.  

May 18th is Armed Forces Day, and it is a day to pay tribute to men and women who serve the United States’ armed forces. Armed Forces Day is also part of Armed Forces Week, which begins on the second Saturday of May.

Since many are flying their flags daily, residents need to be sure theirs are in good shape.  If you have a flag that is tattered or torn bring it to the Greater Ottumwa Park by the War Memorials on Saturday, May 18, 2024, from 8:00 AM to 11:00 AM.

  1. Those who turn in a flag for disposal will have their name entered in a drawing to win an Iowa Flag that was flown over the Iowa Capitol.
