Mary “Christine” Turner 94 of Douds passed away on Wednesday May 8, 2024 at the University of Iowa Hospital in Iowa City. Visitation will open at 2:00 P.M. on Monday May 13, 2024 at Cranston Family Funeral Home in Keosauqua with family present to greet friends from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00P.M. A funeral will be held on Tuesday May 14, 2024 at 10:30 A.M. at the Lebanon United Methodist Church with Pastors Mary Kathryn Hart and Elizabeth Bell officiating. Burial in Lebanon Cemetery will immediately follow the service. Memorials in Christine’s honor to the Lebanon United Methodist Church may be left at the funeral home, church or mailed to the family at 13858 200th Road, Douds, IA 52551. Christine was born on September 7, 1929 to William Clarence and Carrie Campbell Clayton in Van Buren County. She graduated from Douds High School in 1947 and married Gene L. Turner on November 22, 1947. They farmed together in Davis and Van Buren Counties until Gene’s passing in October of 2000. Together they had two sons, Duane and Kenneth.
She was a member of the United Methodist Church of Lebanon, United Methodist Women, Town & Country Garden Club, former member of the Van Buren Historical Society, the 26-89 Saddle Club and Douds Saddle Club.
Left to cherish her memory are a grandson, Douglas Roy Turner (Megan), a granddaughter, Stacy Ann Richards (Alex), a daughter-in-law, Sheryl Kitzman (Terry), four great-grandchildren, Grace Marie and Addison Lane Richards and Trenton Duane and Taylor Madylann Turner, three step-great-grandchildren, Emily, Jade and Bryce Brown, other extended family and many friends.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a stepmother, Lydia Clayton, two sons, Duane William Turner and Kenneth Turner, a stepsister, Margurite Casady and a brother in infancy.
