Ardythe Arlene Gray, 80, of Ottumwa went to meet her Lord and Savior at 9:28 a.m. March 3, 2024 at her home.

She was born July 18, 1943 in Mt. Pleasant to Elmer and Frances Young Burns. She married Merrill D. “Skip” Gray on January 21, 1962.

A graduate of Ottumwa High School, Ardythe had worked at North Hy Vee in the kitchen and at Edd the Florist.

She was a member of Ottumwa Baptist Temple. Ardythe enjoyed raising her children, sewing, gardening and her flower beds.

Surviving is her husband, Skip; their children, Frances (Anthony) Nicholson of Ladysmith, WI, Bill (Chris) Gray of Lone Tree, CO and Thadd (Trish) Gray of Milton; 8 grandchildren, T.J. (Whitney) Gray, Amanda (Will) Reinig, Michelle (Tyler) Abigt, Mallorie Gray, Justin Nicholson (Madison), Wyatt Nicholson, Alex Hoffman (Brandy) and Ryan Hoffman; 2 great grandchildren, Thea and Garrison; siblings, Delbert Burns of Ottumwa, Raymond Burns of Moulton, Colleen Crow of Cedar Rapids and Loretta Crow of Pontiac, MI.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Doug Gray; and siblings, Kendel Burns, Winnona Wise, Charlotte Simpson, Deloris Sauer, Floyd Burns and Robert Burns.

Visitation will be open at 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 6th at Reece Funeral Home with the family present to greet friends 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday.

Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Thursday, March 7th at Reece Funeral Home with Pastor Travis Decker. Burial will be at Memorial Lawn Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to Ottumwa Baptist Temple.

As sending or receiving greeting cards was a great joy for Ardythe, please bring your card for Ardythe to the visitation to be placed with her.
