19-year-old Kadyn Newcomer of Washington was charged with first-degree theft and third-degree burglary.

Police say on February 9, Newcomer arrived at the Washington Street Apartments driving a 2002 GMC C-Series garbage truck that was reported stolen in Van Buren County.

According to authorities, Newcomer departed the scene in the garbage truck which was later recovered by the affiant.

When Newcomer was arrested later that day on Fourth Street, court records say he was still in possession of the stolen property.

Newcomer is currently in the Wapello County Jail. His bond has been set at $5,000.
