The National Weather Service issued a Red Flag Warning for most of Iowa due to potentially dangerous conditions that could lead to fires.

Record high temperatures, low humidity, and high winds are contributing to extreme conditions, according to officials.

The National Service discourages any burning on Monday as it could spread rapidly and lead to an out-of-control fire. Additionally, the public is encouraged to avoid any open flames outdoors and use caution when operating heavy equipment that could spark and lead to a fire.

The Red Flag Warning will be in effect for Monday.

Forecasters say Iowa will see unseasonably warm temperatures in the 70s on Monday and Tuesday followed by a sharp drop with possible rain and snow Tuesday evening. Tuesday night’s low is expected to be in the teens. Wednesday’s high is forecasted to be in the mid 30s.
