With a spirit as fiery as the hot sauce he loved, Mark Allen Tyler, 49, of Centerville, Iowa, left us all too soon on February 17, 2024. Mark was born on November 27, 1974, to Sam and Theresa Hicklin in Oskaloosa, Iowa. When Mark was 9 they moved to Iowa Falls where Mark learned a strong work ethic while working in his parents’ restaurants.

After graduating from Iowa Falls, Mark followed his dream and love for rock music and toured with his bands. After retiring from music he graduated with a Master’s of Metaphysical Sciences from the University of Sedona. His other academic achievements included a cosmetology certification from La James College, where he graduated with cum laude honors, and a NCCA accredited personal fitness trainer certification.

Mark’s enthusiasm for knowledge was contagious, and he took great pleasure in sharing his expertise with others. Mark also had a strong passion for politics and loved telling his many stories. His unique and lively spirit could bring joy and laughter into any room.

Mark is survived by his wife, Melanie Tyler, daughter, Skye Tyler, stepdaughter Ellie Templeton, stepson Kaleb (Lexie) Templeton and grandson Easton Templeton. Also left to cherish his memory are his sisters, Melissa Hicklin, Katie Dumbaugh, and Amanda Janssen; brother, Jeremy Block, father Fanny Block and step-father, Sam Hicklin. He is preceded in death by his mother, Theresa Hicklin.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, February 25, 2024 at the Moravia Grace Church, Fellowship Hall, 101 E. North St. Moravia, Iowa 52571, from 1:30 p.m., until service time at 3:00 p.m., at the fellowship hall. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to the family and will be directed at a later date.
