Hy-Vee Dietitians to Offer 1,000 Free Vitamin D Screenings

WEST DES MOINES, Iowa (Feb. 1, 2024) — Hy-Vee is offering several opportunities in February to encourage individuals to keep moving forward with their health goals, including 1,000 free Vitamin D screenings at nearly 60 stores throughout Hy-Vee’s eight-state region.

Vitamin D is an essential nutrient that helps support strong bones, facilitate normal immune function and aid in the absorption of calcium. Vitamin D screenings are administered via a simple finger stick. A few weeks after the screening appointment, individuals will be contacted by their local Hy-Vee dietitian to set up an appointment to review their results and discuss steps that can be taken to improve their vitamin D levels. The follow-up visits can occur in person or via phone or video.   Registration is required and can be made online. Once registered, a local Hy-Vee dietitian will reach out to schedule a screening based on screening availability. Vitamin D screenings are available while supplies last and are provided in a paid partnership with General Mills and Nature’s Way. A list of Hy-Vee locations offering the screening can be found below.

Additionally, Hy-Vee dietitians will offer additional events throughout the month to support customers’ wellness journeys.

Individuals can jumpstart their health journey by scheduling a complimentary discovery session with a Hy-Vee registered dietitian to learn about the different services available and choose the right individual program for their wellness journey. Discovery sessions are offered virtually, by phone or in person and in Spanish. Customers can schedule a discovery session with our Dietitian Discovery Call Center by either registering online or calling (515) 695-3121.

A Hy-Vee dietitian will host a complimentary virtual class on Wednesday, Feb. 14 from 12-12:30 p.m. The dietitian will cover important topics while highlighting simple recipes and go-to products. Our February class will feature heart-healthy desserts. Registration is available online.

Individuals can continue their New Year’s goals by enrolling in Hy-Vee’s four-week Healthy Habits menu program. Hy-Vee dietitians provide one-on-one support to help individuals find a balanced lifestyle that fits their goals. Each individual is provided a weekly seven-day menu tailored to their needs, along with simple recipes and a convenient grocery list. To learn more and enroll in the program, sign up for a free discovery session here.
