Police: Ottumwa Woman Broke into Home, Pointed Gun at Victim

An Ottumwa woman was arrested after she allegedly broke into a home and pointed a gun at a male occupant.

47-year-old Heather Butler was charged with first-degree robbery, first-degree burglary, first-degree harassment, and going armed with intent.

According to court records, on January 8, Butler entered a residence on the 100 block of South Ash Street in Ottumwa while armed with a handgun and an expandable metal baton.

Police say Butler pointed the gun at the victim’s head and threatened to kill him multiple times.

Butler was taken into custody on January 9. She is currently in the Wapello County Jail where her bond has been set at $50,000.

Butler has been ordered not to have any contact with the victim.
