Oskaloosa Man Accused of Pointing Air Pistol at Police, Drug Possession

An Oskaloosa man was arrested early Friday morning while officers were investigating car burglaries in the area.

35-year-old Shane Followill was charged with two counts of possession of a controlled substance (third or subsequent offense), interference with official acts (dangerous weapon), interference with official acts (bodily injury), and on a warrant for possession of a controlled substance.

The Oskaloosa Police Department says at 1:20 AM, officers were dispatched to the area of N E Street and K Avenue W on the report of possible car burglaries.

During the investigation, authorities say officers located Followill who was on a bicycle and tried to flee despite the officers ordering him to stop. Followill was tased and tackled after allegedly pointing an air pistol at an officer. Followill was taken into custody.

Followill was transported to the Mahaska County Jail. His bail has been set at $15,000.
