Richard Noe, 90, of University Park, passed away Wednesday, October 18, 2023, at MercyOne Hospital in Des Moines.

Richard E. Noe, son of Fred A. and Christina (Hartman) Noe, was born June 9, 1933, in Oskaloosa. Richard graduated from Eddyville High School with the class of 1951. He met Barbara Fry, and the two were married at the Eddyville Methodist Church in June of 1952. They later divorced. Richard started his working career at John Morrells in Ottumwa and enjoyed helping friends on the farm. He also worked at Ideal Manufacturing and spent time working as a surveyor. He later began a career at Pella Windows, working on the production lines.

Richard had a passion for trains. This passion took him to several state train conventions. Classical music was also a love of his. Some of his most cherished times were spent at Tasos while enjoying a cup of coffee with friends. He also loved and cherished the hospitality the Tasos staff showered upon him.

Richard’s family includes his nephew, Steven Werner, and his wife, Mary, of Oskaloosa, who were Richard’s helpers and caregivers; nephews: Fredric Werner of Climax, North Carolina, and Danny Werner of Oskaloosa; cousins: Joanne McNeese and husband, Roy, of Kirkville, Iowa, and Luanne Shurbert of Waterloo, Iowa.

Richard was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Christina Noe; two sisters: Dorothy Noe, in 2005 and Elma Noe Werner, in 1997; and a niece, Janet (Werner) Crocket, in 2018.

Funeral services for Richard will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, October 24, 2023, at Langkamp Funeral Chapel, with Pastor Phil Morrison of Kirkville Community Church officiating. Visitation will begin at 9:00 a.m. on Tuesday until service time. Following the service, burial will occur in the Highland Cemetery in Eddyville. Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
