Alice “Colleen” Visser, age 90, passed away on Sunday, October 15, 2023 at the Monroe Care Center in Albia. She was born September 18, 1933 to Ernie and Irene (Godfrey) Clipperton.
Colleen graduated from Lovilia High School, class of 1951. She married Teddy Visser on June 3, 1951 in Hamilton. Teddy was stationed in England, and they lived there for three years before moving back to Lovilia. They owned and operated Visser Trucking for many years. She was a member of the Lovilia United Methodist Church.
She liked doing word search puzzles, cooking, and spending time at their cabin at the river. Everyone loved her chicken noodles and pies. She cherished her time spent with family and grandchildren.
Colleen is survived by her grandchildren, Chad (Windy) Toopes of Ottumwa, James Toopes and Erica Thordarson of Lovilia, John (Jodi) Toopes of Albia, Karrie (Dusty) Hutchinson of Lovilia, Seth (Sarah) Visser of Albia; ten great grandchildren, two great great grandchildren; son-in-law, Lennie Toopes of Albia, daughter-in-law, Linda Visser of Lovilia; sisters, Jean Nichols, Shirley Walker, Marlene Allen, Patti Bonnett, Caryl Bonnett and several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ernie and Irene Clipperton; husband, Teddy; son in infancy, Terry, daughter, Chris; son, Larry; daughter-in-law, Kamarie Visser; sisters, June Clark, Beverly Hugen, Ella Johnson; brother, Daryl Clipperton.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, October 19, 2023 at Sinnott Funeral Home in Albia with Pastors Dennis and Theresa Miller officiating. Interment will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery in Lovilia. Visitation will also be on Thursday from 9-11 a.m., at the funeral home in Albia. Memorials may be directed to the Lovilia United Methodist Church.
