An Ottumwa man was arrested based on accusations that he had sex with a 14-year-old girl earlier this year.
18-year-old Daniel Palma has been charged with third-degree sexual abuse, a Class C felony.
Court records say Palma admitted to authorities that he performed prohibited sex acts with the child in April. The victim told police she was under the influence of alcohol and marijuana at the time of the incident.
A warrant for Palma’s arrest was issued on September 8 and he was taken into custody on September 13.
Palma is currently in the Wapello County Jail where his bail has been set at $10,000.
Palma has a preliminary hearing scheduled for September 22. He’s been ordered not to have any contact with the victim.
