An Ottumwa man was arrested stemming from an alleged attack with a baseball bat in August.
42-year-old Cherokee Hartman has been charged with assault with intent to inflict serious injury, an aggravated misdemeanor.
On the night of August 7, court records say Hartman exited a vehicle on Bruce Street armed with a bat. Video survielance saw Hartman swing the bat in the head and neck area of a male victim.
According to police, Hartman and the victim went to the ground. Hartman then wrapped his arms around the victim’s neck.
Officers observed a visible contusion on the right side of the victim’s head.
A warrant for Hartman’s arrest was issued on August 15 and he was taken into custody on September 25.
Hartman is currently in the Wapello County Jail. His bond has been set at $2,000.
