Norma Young, 90, of Fairfield, Iowa, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 12, 2023, with family by her side at Jefferson County Health Center.
Norma was born November 30, 1932, to Luella Rose and William Achenbach. She spent her entire life in and around the Fairfield Community. Norma graduated from Fairfield High School in 1950.
She married James B. Young, October 26, 1957, in Kahoka, Missouri. He preceded her in death, September 24, 2023. They had four children: Jerry (Diane) Young of Eldridge, Iowa, Cheryl Walker of Kirksville, Missouri, and Holly (Jim) Burden of Mt. Pleasant. They have 7 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; son, Jeffrey Young; and son-in-law, Charles Walker.
Norma spent most of her life being a housewife. She was an Avon Representative for over 40 years and worked part time for the Robinson Bath Shop. She had a great love for flowers and gardening. She liked to spend time with family and friends, enjoyed dancing, and loved to shop.
The body has been cremated and burial will be at Evergreen Cemetery. A private memorial will be held at a later date. A memorial has been established for the Jefferson County Health Center. Behner Funeral Home in Fairfield is assisting the family with arrangements.
