A single-car accident on the 4th of July claimed the life of a southeast Iowa woman.
According to the Iowa State Patrol, a Chevy Equinox was traveling southbound on Highway S45 in Marion County at approximately 5:14 PM in Marion County.
The accident report states that the Chevy was negotiating a series of S-curves. After going around the first curve, the vehicle missed the next curve and went off the road. The car then entered a ditch, vaulted a driveway, and crashed into a tree.
34-year-old Whitney Marie Brown of What Cheer died in the crash.
Three other occupants were taken to the hospital with minor injuries. The accident report did not disclose their identities.
The Iowa State Patrol was assisted by the Marion County Sheriff’s Office.
