The National Weather Service has issued a Heat Advisory, until noon today and an Excessive Heat Warning, from noon today to 9 PM Friday. Heat index values up to 105 could be reached during the Heat Advisory. The Excessive Heat Warning could bring dangerously hot conditions with heat index values up to 110 expected.
This Heat Advisory affects Mahaska, Monroe, Wapello, Appanoose and Davis counties including the cities of Oskaloosa, Albia, Ottumwa, Centerville, and Bloomfield.
Extreme heat and humidity will significantly increase the potential for heat related illnesses, particularly for those working or participating in outdoor activities.
