Oskaloosa Police Department – From June 5th through June 7th, 2023, Lt Johnson, SRO Nord, and CSO Carmichael attended a Child Passenger Safety Technician certification course hosted by Blank Children’s Hospital in Centerville, Iowa. The course focused on teaching the best practices for child safety while traveling in a vehicle. The course was very hands-on, with students working with different types of car seats and learning how to install them, and educating caregivers about proper installation. Students had to pass multiple written tests and scenarios to get certified. The final exam for certification was installing car seats for residents in Centerville.
All three Oskaloosa Police Department members are now certified nationally as Child Passenger Safety Technicians. If you ever need help installing or checking a car seat in your vehicle, please let us know! It is more complicated to properly install these than most people think, and we want your children safe!
