An Ottumwa woman was arrested after allegedly threatening to kill a Wapello County Courthouse employee.

29-year-old Natalie Bell has been charged with first-degree harassment, an aggravated misdemeanor.

According to court records, Bell called the Wapello County Clerk of Court on May 19 and spoke with an employee. Bell made a demand and when that demand was not met, Bell allegedly told the employee that she was coming to the courthouse to kill the employee.

Court documents say personnel from the Wapello County Sheriff’s Office observed Bell walking northbound on Church Street, towards the courthouse, with a hammer, a pry bar, and two knives in her hands.

The sheriff’s office says Bell had to be physically restrained and disarmed. Bell allegedly made additional threats to the deputies.

Bell was arrested and transported to the Wapello County Jail where she is being held on a $2,000 bond.
