Patty Ann McDowell, 90, of Blakesburg, died at 1:31 a.m. May 25, 2023 at Vista Woods Care Center.
She was born December 20, 1932 in Ottumwa to Harold “Hally” and Mary Esther Houston Stevens. She married Ronald “Skim” McDowell September 21, 1952 and he preceded her in death April 17, 2020.
A 1951 graduate of Ottumwa High School, Patty had been a dental assistant and a cake decorator for Easter’s Hy-Vee and Walmart as well as a Brownie and Cub Scout leader. She was president of the PTA in Agency from 1958 to 1959 and a former member of Eastern Star. Patty enjoyed bowling, bingo and knitting.
She was a member of Christianburg United Methodist Church.
Surviving are her children, Cindy (Linden) Leonard of Creston, Steve (Amber) McDowell of Keosauqua and Greg (Sheila) McDowell of Blakesburg; 5 grandchildren, David (Nikki) Leonard, Kristen (Cody) Parrish, Kacie (Josh) Wood, Klint (Addy) McDowell and Shania (Brendon) Hagans; 11 great-grandchildren; and a brother, Floyd “Skip” Stevens of Milton Freewater, OR.
She was preceded in death by brothers, Harold “Corky” Stevens and Donald “Peanuts” Stevens; and sisters, Marilyn (Bob) Link and Rosie (Buzz) Leazer.
Visitation with the family present to greet friends will be 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 31st at Reece Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 31st at Reece Funeral Home with Pastor John Lund officiating. Cremation will follow the service.
Memorials may be made to Hospice Serving Davis and Wapello Counties or Christianburg United Methodist Church.
