Ottumwa Man Faced With Kidnapping Charge


An Ottumwa man is facing a charge related to an alleged kidnapping.

According to a press release from the Ottumwa Police Department, on Tuesday, March 14, 2023, officers took a missing person report for an adult female. It was reported to police that the victim came to Ottumwa on March 9, to clean out her apartment and did not return home. On Wednesday, March 15, 2023, at approximately 4:30 p.m., officers located her in the 400 Block of South Madison in Ottumwa and transported her to the Ottumwa Police Department. The victim reported to police that she had been held captive for several days and was not free to leave. She stated that during this time she sustained multiple physical assaults and had been sexually assaulted by one offender.

As a result of the investigation, Michael Steven Eastwood, age 43, of 710 Wabash Apt. 1, Ottumwa, was arrested and charged with Kidnapping in the 1st Degree, a Class A Felony.
