Dr. Phillip D. Zickefoose, age 73, of Oskaloosa, passed away on Thursday, February 16, 2023, at Methodist Hospital in Des Moines. He was born on January 11, 1950, the son of Orval and Gayle (Stull) Zickefoose in Mount Pleasant, Iowa. He attended Mt. Pleasant High School and excelled in academia and sports. Phil furthered his education at Palmer School of Chiropractic in Davenport, graduating with honors.

Phil moved to Oskaloosa and opened his own practice; Zickefoose Chiropractic. He cared for many patients over the years and enjoyed helping others. Later in life, he moved to Camdenton, Missouri.

He enjoyed perfecting recipes and sharing them with everyone, going to farm meetings with his siblings, smoking meat, being outdoors, fishing, and just having a good conversation. Phil supported charities, including missionary work in Jamaica for single mothers.

He is survived by his children, Shaefen (Jake) Huyser of Oskaloosa, Jake (Ashley) Zickefoose of Oskaloosa and Alissa (Eric Miller) Zickefoose of Coralville; his grandchildren, Ethan Huyser, Zoe Lynch, Carter Huyser, Talan Zickefoose, Archer Zickefoose, Henry Miller and Peyton Zickefoose; His siblings: Loren Zickefoose of Maryland, Nancy Sasseen of Missouri, Judy Zickefoose of Missouri, Keith (Tammy) Zickefoose of Missouri; and many more nieces, nephews, family and friends that were part of his life.

Phil is preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Patricia “Lynn” Messer, a brother, Mark Zickefoose, a brother-in-law Romaine Messer, and a grandson, Tyler Zickefoose.

As was his wish, Phil’s body has been cremated. A celebration of life is planned for Saturday, February 25th from 1 to 5 pm, at the Welcome Inn Bar and Grill in Eddyville, Iowa.
