Robert Alan Moyer was born on January 11, 1932, in Tama, IA to Joseph and Anna Kocourek Moyer. He attended school in Tama before joining the United States Navy in February 1951. He proudly served his country until his honorable discharge in 1955. During his time in the Navy, he was a Seaman in Navigation signals and steering on the USS Roanoke. Upon returning home he was united in marriage to the love of his life, Nancy Lorenzen. The two became husband and wife on September 4, 1953 and would remain by each other’s side for over 68 years until Nancy’s death in 2021. Bob and Nancy became loving parents to four children: Kim, Lisa, Joe, and Todd. Bob had a career in propane distribution, beginning as a manager of Northern Propane in Stockport and retiring from the local Co-op at the age of 62.

Bob and Nancy lived for many years in Stockport before moving to Keosauqua in 2014. Bob enjoyed woodworking and was always there to help his children with their home improvement projects. He always found an excuse to be outdoors, including fishing and probably most importantly, mowing his yard. Bob had a kind heart and was always willing to give of himself to help others. He will be deeply missed.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Nancy (2021) and seven siblings, Don, Dick, JoAnn, Mark, Devota, and Roberta.

Left to honor his memory are his children, Kim (Ab) Manning of East Lansing, MI, Lisa (Randy) Bentzinger of Keosauqua, IA, Joe (Shelley) Moyer of Burlington, IA, and Todd (Karen) Moyer of Wilton, IA; eight grandchildren, Lindsay (Ben) Parker, Bryant Manning, Hayley (Kirby) Cass, Carly (Brandon) Smith, Marshall (Clara) Moyer, Madison (Taylor) Tucker, Michael Moyer, and Christopher Moyer; 10 great grandchildren, as well as many extended family and friends.
