Gwendolyn Joyce Hall, 90, of Ottumwa, died at 7:40 p.m. December 4, 2022 at Vista Woods Care Center.
She was born July 12, 1932 in Ottumwa to Herman Hersel and Della Mae Ricketts Hall.
A 1950 graduate of Ottumwa High School and a 1953 graduate of St. Joseph Nursing Program, Gwen received a B.S. Degree in Nursing from Iowa State University in 1958. She received her Master’s Degree from Northeast Missouri State Teacher’s College in Kirksville in 1978. Gwen worked for St. Joseph Hospital and Ottumwa Schools from 1968 until her retirement in 2000.
Gwen was an avid animal lover and was especially concerned for the well-being of others.
Surviving is her companion of 70 years, Loraine Gilroy; and 8 nieces and nephews and their families, Dan (Linda) Corzette, Gregory (Becky) Corzette, Cindy (Bob) Forr, Jeff (Donna) Hall, David (Kristy) Hall, Kevin (Lisa) Hall, Mark Hall and Matthew (Pamela) Hall.
She was preceded in death by her parents; siblings, Bill (Shirley) Hall, Dean (Diana) Hall, Velma Jean (Virgil) Corzette and infant sibling, Darwin; and a nephew, Stephen Corzette.
Visitation will be open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday, December 11th at Reece Funeral Home with the family present to greet friends 1 hour prior to the service on Monday.
Funeral Services will be 1 p.m. Monday, December 12th at Reece Funeral Home with Pastor Mel Kendall officiating. The service will be livestreamed on the Reece Funeral Home Facebook page. Burial will be in Shaul Cemetery.
