Cindy Hamling, 61, of Ottumwa died Sunday, November 20, 2022, surrounded by her family at her home in Ottumwa. She was born May 18, 1961, in Oskaloosa, the daughter of Clarence and Gail Silvers McKee. She graduated from Oskaloosa High School with the class of 1979. On October 19, 1979, she was united in marriage to Bryan Whitten in Oskaloosa. To this union four children were born Fonda, Latricia, Melissa, and Brandon. Cindy and Bryan later divorced. On October 9, 1999, she was united in marriage to Robert “Bob” Hamling.

Cindy worked various jobs including Oskaloosa Foods, Pella Plastics, Wendy’s , Lynns Poultry and also for Buster Fields driving truck. Cindy enjoyed tracking genealogy and belonged to Keo-Mah Genealogy Society and Poweshiek County Genealogy. She also enjoyed crafts, diamond art, needle work, fishing and in her younger years, skating. Cindy liked playing video games with her grandchildren, bargain hunting at flea markets, garage sales and thrift stores. She had a love for animals and enjoyed feeding the wildlife and taking care of her pets. Her real joy in life was spending time with her family and attending family gatherings and functions.

Her family includes her husband of over 23 years Bob Hamling of Ottumwa; three children, Fonda (Jeff) Sanders of Sully, Melissa (Brandon) Rozendaal of Lynnville, and Brandon (Kelsie Hoyt) Whitten of Oskaloosa; 8 grandchildren, Logan Neubert, Skyler (Ashley Farnsworth) Sanders, Hopelynn Sanders, Kyler Rozendaal, Jazzlynn Rozendaal, Quintyn Rozendaal, Oaklyn Whitten and Brixleigh Whitten; one great grandchild on the way; her father, Clarence McKee of Oskaloosa; two brothers, Owen (Stacie) McKee of Oskaloosa and Randy (Michelle Cooper) McKee of Oskaloosa.

She was preceded in death by her mother, a daughter, Latricia Michelle Whitten and many aunts and uncles.
