Regina Rae Doak Capps, 92, of Oskaloosa, died at 4:50 a.m. July 30, 2022 at Serenity House Hospice in Oskaloosa.
She was born December 23, 1929 at home in Hedrick, Iowa to Frank and Hillian Bender Doak. She attended the Hedrick Consolidated School and graduated from high school with the Class of 1947. After graduating from Iowa Success Business School in Ottumwa, she worked at John Morrell & Co. until her marriage to Leland Ralph Capps on April 17, 1949 in Ottumwa. He preceded her in death on March 18, 2004.
In 1960, she was employed by the Hedrick Savings Bank, retiring in 1991 after 31 years of service as Cashier, Assistant Trust Officer and Board of Directors Member. She was a 78 year member of the Hedrick Martinsburg United Methodist Church, the United Methodist Women, and a 73 year member of the Arendt-Bowlin-Stubbs Unit #83 American Legion Auxiliary, serving as president over many years.
She is survived by two sons, Gary (Lila) Capps of Oskaloosa, IA and Dennis (Faye) Capps of Carlsbad, CA; three grandchildren, Lindsey (Sean) Kelley of Vista, CA, Robin Capps (Justin Ratcliff) of Geneva Switzerland and Anthony Capps of Gilbert, IA; two great-grandchildren, Bruce and George Kelley; and many nieces, nephews, and friends from Hedrick, Ottumwa and Oskaloosa.
She was preceded in death by her parents, four sisters, Irene Bowlin Gullett, Geneva Daugherty, Virginia Ramey and Frances Lint; and three brothers, Donald Doak, Dallas Doak, and her twin brother, Roger Doak.
Visitation will begin at 1 p.m. Wednesday, August 3rd at Reece Funeral Home with the family present to greet friends 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Thursday, August 4th at Hedrick-Martinsburg United Methodist Church with Pastor Michael Elrod officiating. For those unable to attend, the service may be viewed live on the church’s website. Burial will be in McCormick Cemetery near Highland Center.
Memorials may be made to Hedrick-Martinsburg United Methodist Church, Arendt-Bowlin-Stubbs Unit #83 American Legion Auxiliary or the Carl Craft Civic Center in Hedrick.
